Do i really need a spine fusion?

I needed a t3 to t11 spinal fusion in 2008 and im 16 now. I had scoliosis. I have scoliosis in my lumbar too but I might need surgery for that. It only hurts for the first few months then you will walk and be able to not even know its there. You are restricted as in no cartwheels and such though. I do not think sleeping on your stomach is a bad thing. Surgery is probably a good thing because your bike would be straight and relieve the pain. I say the surgery you should do and you will benefit. My surgery benefited me because I was in a lot of pain too. and your back might get worse if you do not have the surgery now.

High School Vacations?

Kneecap dislocated again? help! 10 points!?

Okay so about four weeks ago I had knee surgery (arthroscopic). I had a dislocated kneecap and lateral release. Well so I've been going to therapy 2-3 times a week and doing daily exercises at home. My knee has been pretty swollen the past couple weeks. Yesterday, my therapist said that my kneecap had moved a little bit out of place. So she taped it. Should I talk to my doctor about a brace? What do I do?

Simulating the Butterfly Stroke?

Butterfly stroke does broaden your shoulders but it takes a lot longer if your over say 22-24. The weights sounds like it should work, but it won't work as well as actual butterfly stroke. Doing the stroke would take twice as long as someone say, 25, and then add the fact that you're not doing actual butterfly, it will take you four times as long to work your shoulders as a younger person. Basically, Your bones have really slowed down growing, and are becoming brittle, so it's a lot harder to make the bone stretch and grow to broaden your shoulders. It will take four months to broaden as much as a younger person in one month. Hope this helps.

My ACL is loose after 3 months post op. Is this bad?

I had ACL reconstruction and lateral meniscus removal 11 weeks ago from today. I chose to use the Patella tendon graft. If anyone who had this surgery remembers before it, they done many tests to check for the ACL being torn. One of them was pulling on the shin bone to see if it parts from the thigh. Doing this, you can see your shin bone move kinda deforming your skin, or pushing your skin out. Mine has started to do this again, when I pull on my shin, it departs way more than my other knee. You can tell a big difference. But my knee feels normal and i can run without it giving away. It isn't giving away and i have no pain. I can still straighten it out as well as hyper extend it some, and bend it fully without any pain at all. I'm just worried because that ACL is loose like it was before surgery. Like i said, i can still run, walk without any pain, and bend fully and straighten without any giving out. I'm just worried about the looseness of the ACL. Any suggestions?

Kitchen shoes for culinary school?

I work in the bakery of my local grocery store and have not found shoes that really love my feet. I am currently wearing cheap tennis shoes and I can foresee horrible feet problems in the near future. I will also be starting culinary school soon and will need an all black, non-slip, water resistant, comfortable shoe. I will be on my feet up to 40 hours a week come August and need something that isn't going to make me cry at the end of a shift or class. I have been to Rack Room Shoes, Shoe Carnival and Academy but the only pair of kitchen appropriate work shoes I liked turned out to be the Mercy Work Crocs.. but I have reservations about the Crocs b/c they are just so darn silly looking. Have a ground deck project design which is in form of an equilateral Triangle (all internal angles are 60deg). the main ('A') frame is going to be cross-braced to form the cross bars so it will look just like a giant letter 'A' with several bars across it. If it were rectangular I'd probably use joist hangers to tie these lateral elements (joists) into the side members of the main 'A' frame. But as the angle at which the lateral joists hit the side frames is 60 deg that's not an option. I need to trim the ends of the joists accurately across their depth for a good fit so that I am not having to make 'bespoke' noggins to fit between every joist: once I've set up my cross-cut saw to make 350mm long noggins I want to make the 'full set' on one set-up. So, how do I produce the required angle on the end of the lateral joists bearing in mind they are up to 3M long and weigh anything up to 10Kgs? The joists are mainly 100x50 C16 but I plan to fit a 150 deep joist at the front to close off the deck across its widest point for greater strength and allow a decorative fascia to be fitted. Sorry to tell you this but weight training doesn't burn that much calories. First of all because weight training isnt continuous. Meaning you lift for about 15 seconds then take a 2 minute break. Also when you weight train you use sugar as an energy source not fat like you do when doing cardio. If you walk at a fast pace for about 1 hour you will burn around 400 calories. What you did right now only burned probably 150 calories at most. Not to say weight training is bad because i do lots of weight training its great for building muscle but for burning calories cardio like walking and jogging is king.

I have braces and I didnt get any teeth pulled but it sounds like you might get some pulled... And for me braces did hurt i wasnt able to eat normal foods for a while but my cousin got braces and she said they didnt hurt for her she also got some teeth pulled... i guess it depends on how old you are because she was 11 when she got hers and i was 17 she also just got them removed and they didnt hurt for her... I guess they will tell you what to take for me they told me to take tylenol or advil. The color i got when i first got them was green but i guess any color would look good... i think pink goes really good with dark colors anyway good luck :)

I'm 27 and have been living with my boyfriend for about one year. I just found out I am pregnant, while he is on vacation until next week. Since graduating in December, I have not tried to get new health insurance, and thus have waited to get back on birth control, until the obvious just recently happened. I do not believe my boyfriend and I are really in love, and I'm really not financially stable enough to consider having a child right now. I care so much about my boyfriend, and I believe that we will agree on what to do, but I must say that I am so humiliated and mortified that the one thing we both didn't want has happened. I honestly hoped to have the abortion this weekend so it would be over with by the time I told him (unless I healed and opted to just NOT tell him, out of my own fear- I admit), but today the doc said he couldn't do the procedure because I am barely over a week along, and so I have to wait two weeks. Now I can't decide how to tell my boyfriend, or if I shouldn't. I do know that he is adamant about not having kids, and I am not ready either. I am also just humiliated and afraid that he will resent me, not be able to handle the stress of this occasion, and become completely alienated from me. I don't foresee him trying to leave as finding a place to live elsewhere would be extremely difficult for him and for me, but I fear he will stay and treat me badly for making the one thing he didn't want to happen happen. I know he has a responsibility in all this too, and some part of the decision, but I just feel that if we both want to abort, perhaps I could save our relationship a ton of stress if I didn't tell him and did it on my own. Many of my friends think I should break up with him anyway, not tell him, and go through with the abortion on my own. I can't imagine having to pay double my rent in less than 2 weeks, pay for an abortion, break up with my boyfriend, and start life out alone all at once. I'm seriously just feeling mortified and scared that our relationship won't survive this, because we're not in love. Will the metal rod for a dental implant hold the gap for the crown, or do i still need my braces on?

Right now, I basically have my top row of braces on for no reason, except to hold the gap where I'm getting a dental implant (i was born without the root for one of the lateral incisors). I am getting the metal rod placed in next week (I've already had the implant placed and bone graft), so I just need to wait for the crown to be placed onto the rod. I want to ask my orthodontist to take my braces off once the rod is in place instead of waiting for the crown...would I be making a valid request? I really don't know. That's the honest answer. Hypothetically speaking it depends on what you are doing. As with all software/hardware there must be a balance. If you aren't pressuring your HDD with lots of reading and writing like encoding and HD pictures where info is constantly flowing to and from your HDD I wouldn't pressure you to buy it. Imagine if you will a highway system. It flies through your CPU, through your 4+ GIGs of RAM, through your 1GIG Gddr5 pci 2.0 x16 GFX card and then it needs to be written to your drive. If it can't process that amount of info then there will be your bottleneck. I just bought a 1TB HDD. I did choose the 7200 RPM drive. Why? I do game a LOT. I stream public domain media 24/7. I am also surfing a lot. The gaming and the streaming are the couple of things I thought about although I just like the faster drive. You will NOTiCE the change when you load your OS on the SSD and the rest of the HDD is balanced.

Haha, I would say so! Any regular exercise will help to tone and this seems more than adequate. If you eat everything in moderation, focus on getting plenty of protein, and replace your typical beverages with water you're guarenteed to see some changes to your build. By "cut" I assume you mean something a little more than just a little toning... So if you don't see drastic enough changes after 2 weeks or so then add some more muscle-building exercises to your regiment. Just don't forget to eat right and drink lots of water everyday!

Has anybody experience something like tat when they workout?

I always lost count for one arm after doing the other arm and i'm really worried that i will have a unsymmetrical physique. Mostly the exercise that i encountered would be one arm lateral raise, dumbbell row. triceps extension and so on. Hence do you all think that a few reps could spoil my physiques? Another thing would be my one arm is stronger than another, and the weaker arm usually makes me feel like i'm not working out properly by jerking or partial reps. Thus i really hate doing one arm exercise or isolation exercise. Lastly, when my legs is not 100% fit, my body will sometimes shake during my back workout where i'm struggling to do the exercise.

I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I mean there are three independent coffee shops that are doing pretty well for themselves, and my hometown isn't the most lucrative place to do business. Heck I live in Cali and and there are so many good small suburban cities I could go to rather than a big one like San Fran. What do you think? What do you recommend? Any advice for me?

My cycles have been jacked up for the past 5-6 mths. I've had like two periods. One cycle was 42 days and the next was 44. My period app says on average I should have started on Monday. About 4 years ago I jumped while running on cement and landed on my ankle so the lateral part hit the ground/ top part. I forget if I heard a pop/crack noise. I was in very bad pain and It was hard to walk(happened duing school) I went to nurses and she gav me ice. The pain never gone away, specifically when I am playing soccer and snowboarding. It is not as flexible as the other ankle, and the pain sometimes goes up the ligaments between my tibia and fibula ( after sports) .it also makes tons of cracking noises when I'm walking anywhere( usually one after the other). I would recommend doing the military press first and do it in the front rather than behind the head (I've read several articles that behind the head presses can cause damage to the rotary cuff).I would also recommend doing some raises for the rear deltoid which a lot of lifters miss and can in time cause serious shoulder problems.

Need help remembering an RPG editor?

Ok, so a shot in the dark here, but im 19 now and a few years ago(200...4? ish?) 2004 or 2005 I attended "Emagination computer camp" in lake forest illinois. Anyway, I had a class on creating 8bit RPG's, and we used an editor to make them. The problem is, i can't find it again. Its not any of the rpg editors i could find online(not rpg maker or any of those popular ones), and i know that because i remember the title screen. The first screen you go to when you start the program i remember being fairly colorful with at least one sword on it, and there were like options on the left side. and i remember that to code speech bubbles and movement scripts in your games you had to use very simple coding involving for sure the $ sign. I fell down on my knee 3 weeks after surgery?

I was at a restaurant and they were mopping the floors and my crutch hit the water and I slipped and landed on my back side and also twisted my bad knee and hit the side of it...it is swelled but it really doesn't hurt...it just kinda stings along the incision when I bend it (that's where I fell on it)...I didn't hear anything rip or pop...the swelling has gone down a little and I iced it and elevated it...I think I may of hit one of the screws in my knee because it was like a "jolt" of pain and then it stopped...it feels fine now...is there anything I can do too help it? Does it sound like I have hurt it badly and may need another surgery? I had a screw in my patella and they had to reconstruct a torn ligament and they did a lateral release so they did move around some of my ligaments...and I have set an appointment to see my orthopedist (my surgeon) to take a look at it... and also the way I hurt it before was from a dislocation and they did that surgery ^^^ to correct it...thanks :)

Okay so little over three weeks ago, I had knee surgery. Basically, i had a lateral release and dislocated kneecap. I am in physical therapy but only for 2 or 3 more weeks hopefully. Your routine is good in that you are giving your body time to rest, but you are still doing way too many sets for each body part. Quit doing split routines and focus on compound movements. You are not doing any deadlifts which is the best overall lift that you can do. At your age and weight, you should focus on core compound movements like deadlifts, squats, flat bench, etc. Forget the isolation movements. More is not always better especially when it comes to sets.

Trying to get info about a knee injury i have?

I have a knee injury that has me confused. I am considering going to the doctor to have it looked it, but I want to make sure it is worth the trip (I hate going to the doctor for nothing). I play softball, and my knee only hurts minimally while I play. It's the next day that I experience a lot of pain. The day after a game, I have very limited flexibility in my knee. The pain is in my right knee, towards the outside of my leg. From what I have looked up, the pain seems to be in the general area of the lateral collateral ligament. I do not think it is an injury to the ligament, as I experienced no "pop", no swelling, no immediate trauma to the area. I have no issue bearing weight on the injured leg, but when it is in a bent position, I can not push off (i.e. climbing/descending the stairs). Some movements that most noticeable hurt seem to be when I try to remove my foot from my shoe, or when I try to lift my foot from the gas pedal to the brake while driving. Any insight would help, thank you.

My symptoms were 9/10 pain, could not move due to pain, shortness of breath, low sats, tachycardia, etc... The Doc said the pain should go away within 4-6 weeks. Since then, I have had the usual "zingers" of extreme pain which only last for a few seconds, and an ache of about 2-3/10 pain which comes and goes almost on a daily basis. But I have also occasionally been having signs of new PE's as well. This has happened about 3-4 times over the last 5 months, each time getting worse. Yesterday I had the *exact* same symptoms as my original PE with 9/10 pain, dyspnea, shortness of breath, etc... and But here is the kicker. These "attacks" are temporary and yesterdays episode only lasted about 10 minutes or so and left as quickly as it came. These are debilitating and cannot move or breath while I have them. I have to sit in a semi-tripod position and take very short, shallow breaths to keep the pain down. I have been treated for pleurisy (which I don't meet the criteria for but willing to try anything) and cannot distinguish the symptoms between my original PE and these episodes. However, I know that symptoms of a PE don't just "go away" like mine have been. I really feels like I have a sudden blockage of my vessel which breaks loose and allows blood flow again. Perhaps scar tissue or left over PE, I have no idea but am a Paramedic/Firefighter and return to work this week and CANNOT have this problem while on duty. My Doc doesn't know what is going on (she has referred me to yoga and acupuncture. I am looking for a new Doc right now) and need to get this problem fixed. I have searched the internet tirelessly and haven't found anything remotely comparable to my symptoms. Any thoughts?

I would say it would be harder because you have to think long term and provide enough scenarios and opportunities for characters to grow and develop whereas in movies, it's a one time thing and then it's done so there's less time for plot and characters to develop. TV writers have to think more longterm and have more of a vision, that's my opinion anyways.

I am 18, college-bound for the fall, and I can't decide on where I see myself. My original plan was to head into law, but I did my research and learned, to my dismay, that law is a very very popular career choice. Second I considered Computer Engineering and Science but than I had a peek into the past and remembered how poorly I did in my High School math classes and then foresaw a future of pain and stress for the next four years as CE or CS major. Than I came to a realization that the my interests in life usually go back to these four things: coffee, music, philosophy, and literature. How in hell am I suppose to choose a major with interest that usually leave people with the opinion that those who have only such interest will end up broke and homeless. I really want to have my majors down before I attend my college orientation next month and see my adviser to pick classes. I really would like to double major. I have considered just becoming a business and cognitive science major and just go into business. I mean I love coffee and I always had this dream to move to Seattle, Washington, the coffee capital, or to San Fransisco, CA and just starting my own independent coffee shop. I mean there are three independent coffee shops that are doing pretty well for themselves, and my hometown isn't the most lucrative place to do business.
