How long before I can walk after a broken ankle?

Hey, i fractured my lateral malleolus (bottom of fibula) and I am in a non-weight bearing cast for 6 weeks. I have one more week to go and i was wondering if I will be able to walk right when my cast comes off or how long will it take? Also, does anyone have an estimate of when I can return to sports like basketball?
