Why is the skin around my eyes dry and puffy after using anti-acne lotion?

I recently had an appointment with my dermatologist for acne treatment and he prescribed me Differin and an anti-bacterial pill. A few days of using it the skin around my eyes (mostly in the more lateral areas) have become dry and my eyelids have gotten a little puffy there too. can this be easily treatable with ice or some sort of over-the-counter moisturizer? how do i keep this from happening again? i'm a little ashamed to walk around in public with slightly puffed eyelids...
